Sperry Band Students Again Selected for Honor Band

Several Sperry Band students recently earned chairs in the Mideast Oklahoma Honor Band.  Schools from around the area traveled to Cleveland High School on January 18 to audition for a chance to be part of this select Oklahoma band.  The auditions consisted of required scales, selected music, and sight reading performed before a panel of judges. Students who scored highest were selected to comprise three honor bands: Seventh Grade, Junior High, and High School. The honor bands then met for a two-day clinic held on February 1 and 2 during which the bands rehearsed with special guest conductors and performed a concert.

Sperry students who were selected are: Seventh Grade: Zander Ford, euphonium; Junior High: Kyla Walters, flute, Kelli Garrison, clarinet, Samantha McMurray, euphonium, and Donald Garrison, percussion.

High School: Alicia Brackett, alto saxophone, and Nathan Weldon and Donny Forgione, percussion.

Additionally, Jeffery Chase was First Alternate Trombone and Tucker Smith was First Alternate Tuba.
