Course Title: Pre-AP Precalculus

Text:  Precalculus with Limits

CalculatorA TI–nspire will be provided for daily classroom use.  A good online graphing calculator can be found at Desmos.   

 

Course Description:  The content covered in this course is precalculus, which includes trigonometry, trigonometric relations, trigonometric identities, functions and their graphs, composite and inverse functions, and probability and statistics.  It foreshadows the calculus curriculum.  This course emphasizes learning how to think mathematically and develops problem solving skills.  It also incorporates and is supported by technology.

 

Course Policies:

a) Attendance:  Regular attendance is expected and necessary for success. 

b) Homework:  On any particular day on which homework is assigned, selected problems from the homework will be collected and graded for              a total possible of 5 to 10 points or an in class assignment could be given for the same number of points.

c) Bonus PointsFor each unit you may be able to receive 1 or 2 bonus points on select quiz or test questions.

d) Late Work:  All assignments are to be turned in on the announced date at the beginning of the period. If a student is absent they must make arrangements with me and will be required to turn in the fully worked problem set at the next class period.

Grading Schedule:  Exams are administered at intervals representing logical information blocks, quizzes are administered according to perceived class need.

The approximate grading value for each type of assignment is given below:
