Cheer Squad Competitive Season Comes to an End

It has been a busy school year for the Sperry High School Cheer Squads. And cheer sponsor Natalie Sayre is impressed with her teams.

"The coaches have been extremely proud of the hard work these ladies and gentlemen have put in to represent our school at these events,"  Mrs. Sayre said. "Our program is building, and we look forward to what Sperry Cheer will do in the near future."

Sperry's all-girl squad competed at the Game Day State Competition on Nov. 2 at Moore High School.  The Lady Pirates finished 11th of 20 teams.

"This was the first time for many of our girls to participate in this type of competition," Mrs Sayre said.  "We didn't quite finish where we'd like but it was definitely a great learning experience for all."

The High School Competition squad has competed three times this school year. The coed competition squad was runner-up in Regionals; “its best finish in school history,” noted Mrs. Sayre.  That finish at Regionals qualified the team for State competition, where it finished seventh.
