Parents, Students, School Staff, and All Other Community Members: Vote for the 2024-2025 Sperry School Calendar Today

Sperry School Community Members,

Last year, a range of stakeholders responded to the school’s general survey to establish key elements of the district calendar.  With this information, the current school calendar was developed, as were the proposed calendars for the 2024-2025 school year.

The general survey results indicate the following preferences:

• A start-date in the second week of August (choice of 79% of respondents),
• Three professional development days in August, one in February, and one after the last day of classes (choice of 47% of respondents),
• Parent-Teacher Conferences held two evenings in two consecutive weeks (choice of 64% of respondents),
• Fall Break consisting of a Friday and the following Monday (choice of 40% of respondents),
• A full week for Thanksgiving Break (choice of 61% of respondents),
• Winter Break of 10 school days (choice of 57% of respondents),
• A full week for Spring Break (choice of 90% of respondents),
• Inclement Weather days placed in April and May (choice of 81% of respondents), and
• The last day of classes before Memorial Day and as soon after state testing as possible (choice of 80% of respondents)

The differences between the two are:

• Option 1 has first semester classes begin on August 15, the Thursday of the second full week of August, with the first quarter ending on October 17.  Parent-Teacher Conferences are September 26 and October 3.  Second semester ends classes on May 22 with May 23 as a professional development day (teachers return but students do not).

• Option 2 has first semester classes begin on August 8, the Thursday of the first full week of August (but the second Thursday of the month), with the first quarter ending on October 10.  Parent-Teacher Conferences are September 19 and 26.  Second semester ends classes on May 15 with May 16 as a professional development day (teachers return but students do not).
