Wyatt Heitkamp received an early present this holiday season at Sperry High School’s band concert on December 17. Wyatt, a member of the Sperry High School Band, was presented with a special gift that will help him continue to participate in Sperry School’s award-winning program. High school basketball teams from around the state will descend on Sperry this week for the annual Sperry Tournament, starting Thursday, Dec. 19, at the high school field house. The Lady Pirates will play their first game at 10 a.m. Thursday against North Storm, a homeschool team from Edmond. As winter approaches, temperatures outside are dropping and noticeable chills are in the air. But things are heating up inside the Sperry Schools gymnasiums as basketball and wrestling take center stage. Sperry's middle school basketball teams will be home Monday, Dec. 9, to take on Cleveland in Will Rogers Conference contests. The Sperry High School Pirates football team saw its bid to repeat as State Champions end in the State Quarterfinals last Friday. On a mud-soaked field in misty conditions, in front of a large contingent of Sperry fans that made the nearly four-hour trip to Kingston, the Pirates fell 14-7 to the host Redskins in a close competition between the two powerful teams. On November 11, Veterans' Day, Sperry students honored men and women who served in the military. From those who served decades ago to those who are still serving, two school programs highlighted each branch of service throughout our nation's history.

Since February, Dr. Beagles has been giving monthly update reports to the Board of Education about students receiving breakfast at Sperry Elementary and Sperry Middle School through the Breakfast in the Classroom program.
