Breakfast in the Classroom Continues to Support Sperry Elementary Students

Sperry Public Schools continues to provide students at Sperry Elementary School with access to a nutritious, no-cost breakfast through the Breakfast in the Classroom program.
The program was established to increase student access to breakfast and ensure that every elementary student has the opportunity to begin the school day with a healthy meal. Rather than requiring students to arrive early or visit the cafeteria before the school day begins, students can receive breakfast in their regular classroom as part of their morning routine.
Each morning, students who choose to participate are provided a no-cost breakfast prepared by the school’s food service staff. Teachers continue with their regular morning responsibilities while students eat, allowing breakfast to become a natural part of the beginning of the school day.
Providing students with a no-cost breakfast is an important part of Sperry Elementary’s commitment to supporting the whole child. Ensuring that students have access to a nutritious meal at the beginning of the school day can help eliminate one potential barrier to learning and allow students to begin their day prepared to participate and engage in the classroom.
The benefits of the program extend beyond providing a morning meal. A positive and consistent breakfast routine helps create a welcoming start to the school day while supporting students’ readiness to learn. Breakfast in the Classroom also provides opportunities for students to develop responsibility and independence. Students learn to manage their meals, clean their eating areas, and properly dispose of their cartons and other materials. These routines help reinforce expectations for responsibility, cleanliness, and respect for their learning environment.
Sperry Public Schools is proud to continue offering this opportunity to its elementary students and recognizes the important role that school nutrition programs play in supporting student success. The district appreciates the continued efforts of its food service staff, teachers, administrators, and students in making Breakfast in the Classroom a successful part of the school day.
“Our goal is to make sure our students have every opportunity to be successful when they walk through our doors each morning,” Superintendent Dr. Brian Beagles said. “Providing every elementary student with access to a no-cost breakfast is one meaningful way we can support our students and help them begin each day ready to learn.”
