Native American Storyteller Visits with Native American Studies Classes
The Native Studies classes at Sperry are organized to bring awareness of Native American traditions, history, culture, and achievements as an important part of the history of the United States. Native American stories and activities are part of the elementary curriculum, and beginning in middle school, students can enroll in classes devoted to Native American studies.
Recently, Will Hill, a full-blooded Native American Indian (Muscogean) visited with the Native Studies classes at Sperry on Tuesday. Raised in the Native American tradition of storytelling, Mr. Hill was the first American Indian to perform at the National Museum of the American Indian at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. He has performed at Disney World and has been featured at many national storytelling conferences and festivals across the country.
