Sperry Marching Band Rates Top Scores at Regionals

Sperry Band of Pirates Scores Solid 1s at Regional Contest

 

The Sperry High School Marching Band has successfully wrapped up another season after scoring straight one’s at the OSSAA Regional Marching Band Contest on Tuesday, October 17th, in Oologah. This year’s marching band show was titled “Sounds of Cinema.” The show featured songs from the hit movies “Batman,” “Indiana Jones,” and “Star Wars.” Junior Christopher Akers performed a mellophone solo, and Bently Doshier performed a flag solo representing the color guard.

Prior to the Regionals contest, the band participated in the Blue & Gray Marching Classic on October 7th in Glenpool receiving 2nd for 3A schools, 1st place in 3A Percussion, 5th place in the 1st Round Open Class, and 8th place in the 2nd Round Open Class.  One week later, the Sperry Band of Pirates traveled to Beggs to participate in the Beggs Marching Invitational.  At this event, Sperry received 5th place in open class and 2nd place for 3A schools. 

            By receiving a Superior Rating at the OSSAA Regional Marching Contest, the Sperry Band is in the hunt for another Spring title and State Sweepstakes!
