Luke McHugh
History Teacher
Luke McHugh teaches ninth- and tenth-grade World History and Oklahoma History at Sperry Public Schools. He has been in education for three years, including his second year at Sperry. Mr. McHugh earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education from Rogers State University. Before joining Sperry Public Schools, he taught for one year at Claremore Public Schools.
What Mr. McHugh enjoys most about teaching is seeing his students succeed and grow as individuals. He wants his students to know that he genuinely cares about their growth and hopes to make a positive impact on their lives. He wants students to leave his classroom knowing that he wants them to succeed and that their time in school can be a positive experience. To make learning engaging, Mr. McHugh incorporates projects that allow students to be creative and demonstrate their understanding rather than simply memorizing facts and information.
Outside of school, Mr. McHugh enjoys watching sports and spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite things about Sperry Public Schools is the strong sense of community throughout the town. He appreciates being part of a community where people are connected and work together to support one another.
