Jared Smith
High School Principal
Mr. Jared Smith serves as the High School Principal and Athletic Director for Sperry Public Schools. He has worked in education for 26 years, including the past 10 years at Sperry. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of educational and leadership roles, including teaching science in grades 6–12, coaching girls basketball, cross country, golf, and volleyball, driving a school bus, and serving as an assistant elementary principal. His diverse experience has provided him with a broad understanding of student needs, instructional practices, school operations, and athletic programs.
Mr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from East Central University. His background in the classroom, athletics, and school administration has helped shape his approach to leadership. In his current role, he oversees academic and staff leadership, supports a positive school culture, and provides oversight of athletic programs. He also contributes to district operations, including transportation and custodial services, helping ensure that the day-to-day needs of the district are met.
What Mr. Smith enjoys most about working at Sperry is building relationships with the community, students, and staff. He values the connections that make Sperry a special place to learn and work. As a school leader, he hopes to be a positive and supportive influence for both students and staff, helping create an environment where people feel encouraged, valued, and able to succeed.
Mr. Smith’s leadership is grounded in supporting the people who make Sperry Public Schools successful. Through his responsibilities in academics, staff leadership, school culture, athletics, and district operations, he works to support students and employees while contributing to the overall success of the school district. His experience across multiple roles in education allows him to understand the many ways that strong leadership and teamwork contribute to a positive school environment.
On a personal note, Mr. Smith has been married to his wife for 27 years and is the proud father of two daughters and grandfather of two granddaughters. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time outdoors and making memories with his family.
