As Principal of Sperry Elementary and Intermediate School, she supports students, staff, and families while overseeing instruction and daily school operations. She also serves as the district’s Special Education Department Chair, overseeing special education services, supporting Individualized Education Program (IEP) and evaluation processes, and ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. She is in her 14th year in education and her second year at Sperry Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has served as a first-grade teacher, fourth-grade teacher, special education teacher, and assistant principal. These experiences have shaped her commitment to meeting students where they are, building strong relationships, and supporting teachers as they help every child grow.
She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Central University and holds certifications in Elementary Education, Special Education, and School Administration (Principal). Her experience in general education, special education, and school leadership has provided her with a broad understanding of student needs and the importance of individualized support. In her roles as principal and Special Education Department Chair, she works to ensure students receive the services and guidance they need while helping teachers navigate instructional and special education responsibilities. Her focus is on helping every student feel valued, supported, and ready to succeed.
What she enjoys most about working at Sperry is being part of students’ everyday lives and watching them grow. She loves celebrating small victories, encouraging students through challenges, and seeing their confidence develop over time. She also values the relationships she builds with staff and families and appreciates Sperry’s welcoming spirit and the community’s commitment to children. During her time at Sperry, she hopes to strengthen a culture where every student and adult feels a sense of belonging, support, and purpose. She wants students to feel encouraged to take risks, learn from challenges, and recognize their potential while continuing to build strong collaboration among staff and meaningful communication with families.
On a personal note, she and her husband, Jonathan, have three children: Zoe, Corbin, and Carter. Their children keep them busy and make life a lot of fun. The family enjoys spending time together, whether attending the children’s activities or relaxing at home. In her free time, she enjoys reading, catching up with friends, and shopping with her daughter.
