Kim Young
Middle School Principal

Mrs. Kim Young serves as the Middle School Principal for Sperry Public Schools. She has worked in education for 18 years and is beginning her first year at Sperry. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles. She began her career in San Antonio, Texas, as a middle school Texas History and Geography teacher, where she also coached volleyball and track. She later transitioned into curriculum writing and instructional support before becoming a middle school assistant principal in San Antonio. Her experience in the classroom, curriculum development, and school administration has provided her with a broad understanding of instructional practices, student needs, and effective school leadership.
Mrs. Young earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University, completed her teaching certification through Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, and earned her master’s degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. She holds teaching certifications in both Texas and Oklahoma. As Middle School Principal, she oversees daily operations, student discipline, attendance, school safety, instructional practices, and student achievement. She also works to build strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community while collaborating with district leadership to support the goals of Sperry Public Schools.
What Mrs. Young enjoys most about working at Sperry is the small-town atmosphere and the strong sense of loyalty to the community. She appreciates seeing community members come together to support students at football games and other school events. She also enjoys recognizing familiar faces when she is out in the community. These connections reflect the welcoming environment she values and hopes to help strengthen throughout her time at Sperry.
Mrs. Young hopes to use the experience she gained working in a larger Texas school district to introduce new ideas, systems, and procedures that benefit Sperry Middle School. At the same time, she is committed to preserving and building on the qualities that make Sperry special. Her goal is to create an environment where students and staff feel supported, valued, and successful. Through strong instructional leadership, effective school operations, and collaboration with teachers and district leaders, she hopes to contribute to continued growth and success at Sperry Middle School.
On a personal note, Mrs. Young is married to her husband, Paul, and together they have five grown children. She grew up in Georgia and lived there until leaving for college. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time at the beach, participating in water activities, organizing and decorating her home, and spending time with her three dogs.
