Deena Morton
Second Grade Teacher
Deena Morton brings more than 30 years of experience in education to her classroom, including five years at Sperry Public Schools. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration/Education from Oklahoma State University and a degree in Elementary Education from Arkansas State University. Her diverse educational background includes experience at Jenks, Union, Broken Arrow, private elementary schools in Arkansas, and Tulsa Technology Center.
Mrs. Morton’s favorite part of teaching is interacting with students and watching them grow throughout the school year. She believes teaching is her calling and strives to create a classroom where students know they are cared for, supported, and held to high expectations.
She encourages students to understand the “why” behind what they are learning and enjoys connecting lessons to how the brain and body work together. Her goal is for students to leave her classroom knowing that their learning experiences—and the memories they make along the way—matter.
Outside of school, Mrs. Morton enjoys spending time with family and friends, being part of her church community, and reading nonfiction. She especially appreciates Sperry’s strong sense of teamwork and the way students, families, teachers, and administrators work together for children.
