Tonya Park
Fifth Grade Math Teacher
Tonya Park has been an educator for 35 years, including 25 years at Sperry Public Schools. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northeastern State University and began her teaching career at Anderson Elementary in Sand Springs.
What she enjoys most about teaching is the students and all the personalities she gets to engage with every day. Mrs. Park wants her students to know that while she may be tough on them sometimes, it is only because she cares about them and wants the best for them. She hopes every student knows that from the moment they walk into her classroom, they become an important part of her life and that she will always be in their corner, cheering them on—no matter how old they become.
Mrs. Park brings her sense of humor into the classroom and believes in creating meaningful relationships with her students. Her goal is for students to know they are supported, valued, and encouraged to do their best.
Outside of school, Mrs. Park enjoys attending sporting events, reading, spending time with her family, traveling, and enjoying weekends at the lake. She has lived in Sperry for 33 years and taught in the district for 25 years. She raised her two boys in Sperry and considers the community home. She especially appreciates the way the community celebrates one another's successes and comes together when someone needs support. A fun fact about Mrs. Park is that she hasn't eaten a hamburger in almost 40 years! Education also runs in her family—her husband, Coach Park, along with her mom, dad, and three sisters, are all teachers.
