Sherry Patton
Second Grade Teacher
Sherry Patton has been an educator for 27 years, including the past 17 years at Sperry Public Schools. She earned an Associate in Arts from TJC, a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northeastern State University and Langston University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University. Before joining Sperry, she spent 10 years teaching second grade with Tulsa Public Schools.
What she enjoys most about teaching is seeing a child realize their own potential. Mrs. Patton loves watching students gain confidence in themselves and become excited to take on new learning adventures. She wants every student to know that she believes in them, that they are loved, and that each child holds a special place in her heart.
Mrs. Patton encourages her students to understand that making mistakes is okay, as long as they learn from them and continue working toward success. She believes in talking to students rather than at them and making sure they know they are valued. She enjoys connecting students' interests to lessons and examples so learning feels meaningful and relatable. One of her favorite reminders about the importance of structure is, “FUN without rules is CHAOS.”
Outside of school, Mrs. Patton enjoys spending time with her family, riding their side-by-side, and raising cattle. She is proud that Sperry Public Schools has educated all three of her children and has provided her with a wonderful place to work. She also loves a good prank and lives for escape rooms!
