Amy Thrower
Fourth Grade Math Teacher
Amy Thrower has completed 23 years of teaching, including 15 years teaching fourth grade math at Sperry Public Schools. She earned degrees and certifications in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and English as a Second Language from the University of Central Oklahoma. Throughout her career, Mrs. Thrower has also taught in Dallas ISD, Western Heights Public Schools, Tulsa Public Schools, and Bartlesville Public Schools.
What she enjoys most about teaching is seeing the moment when students learn a new concept. Mrs. Thrower wants her students to know that her classroom is a safe space where they can learn, ask questions, and grow. She hopes students leave her classroom feeling confident in their new skills.
Mrs. Thrower provides extra help when students need it and values giving students meaningful feedback on their work. She strives to create a supportive classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to keep learning.
Outside of school, Mrs. Thrower enjoys spending time with her dogs and horses, visiting Lake Texoma, landscaping, and reading. She appreciates the strong sense of community at Sperry and especially enjoys seeing families support one another and students encourage and care for each other. Although she lives about an hour away, she says the drive is worth it because of the wonderful students at Sperry.
