Sperry Public Schools Announces Bell Schedule Updates for the 2026-2027 School Year
Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, Sperry Public Schools will implement updates to its elementary, middle school, and high school schedules. These changes are designed to comply with new state requirements while expanding academic opportunities for students.
Elementary Schedule Updates
Senate Bill 1481 increases the required daily recess time for elementary students from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. To meet this requirement while preserving instructional time, Sperry Public Schools has adjusted the elementary schedule.
The elementary school day will now begin five minutes earlier and end 5 minutes later, with classes running from 7:55 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
These adjustments ensure elementary students receive the full 40 minutes of daily recess required by state law without reducing valuable classroom instruction.
Middle School and High School Schedule Updates
Beginning this school year, Sperry Middle School and Sperry High School will transition from a six-period day to a seven-period day. This change is designed to provide students with greater flexibility in building their schedules and to expand learning opportunities beyond the core curriculum.
The additional class period will allow students to enroll in more elective courses that align with their individual interests, career exploration, and future career pathways. By increasing access to elective offerings, students will have more opportunities to discover their strengths, develop career-ready skills, and prepare for college, career, and life after graduation.
To accommodate the additional class period, the middle school and high school instructional day will conclude five minutes later than in previous years. Classes will continue to begin at 8:00 a.m. and dismiss at 2:45 p.m.
